Flagstone is a wonderfully versatile hardscaping product that will improve the curb appeal of any property. With the beautiful colour variations and the precise straight lines made by human hands creates an appearance that is both natural and unnatural. 

Geometry in the Yard

Square cut does not refer to a standard size, only to straight lines with right angles at each corner. Our Banas square cut flagstone comes in 4 sizes (12”x24”, 18”x24”, 24”x24” & 24”x36”), you can achieve a neat and clean look with large square stones of equal size. Or, you can create something more unique with the use of multiple sizes in a modular pattern. The choice is yours!

Choose your Base

Flagstone can be laid using two methods…

1. Mortared Flagstone

The stones are set permanently with a mortar to a prepared base. The base can be properly graded cement (to ensure drainage) or compacted gravel (ideally, this would be compaction tested by an engineering firm to ensure longevity). This is recommended for high-traffic areas to avoid stone movement over time.

2. Dry-Laid Flagstone

Sand and/or gravel form the base of dry-laid flagstone. This is the more affordable option, and while stones may shift slightly over time, there are techniques and material, like polymeric sand (embed Polymeric Sand page), that can reduce this phenomenon.
